VOLUNTEER PROFILE
Name: Scott Ryder
Age: 22
Physical Appearance: Here you go!
Point in Timeline: Post game, after he helps his twin defeat the Archon and takes a nap while she celebrates.
World Description: Here's a link to the wiki; the setting is an entire galaxy so hopefully this explanation will suffice!
History/Background: Wiki entry
Noteworthy Positive Characteristics:
* Scott is always ready to do what needs to be done. Fresh out of waking up from a coma when his sister visits he's literally about to get up to join her, only stopped by her and his doctor and the fact that he was still feeling the effects of being in a coma.
* He's fairly put together in tense situations. When the Hyperion is invaded and he's told that his sister's link to SAM was severed, and that she could die if he doesn't help reestablish it, he's quick to get suited up and ready to do what he has to. He barely hesitates when SAM informs him that establishing the link will alert the Archon to his location.
* Scott is also an easy going guy, which could be helpful in times of stress. After waking from his coma his sister comes to visit him. If already made aware of the fact that their father is dead and their plans to find a home have failed he doesn't shy away from cracking jokes with her. When she asks him, "don't you think you've slept in long enough?" he makes a joke of thinking it was Saturday, then Sunday, then figured someone didn't set the alarm.
* He's mentally a strong individual, which he proves when he helps his sister beat the Archon despite having him essentially torture Scott, using him as a pain buffer to utilize his SAM implant. He's under great physical pain with this guy rooting around in his head while also under emotional distress knowing that literally everything is riding on this one moment, and yet he's able to fight through the pain to get into the systems and communicate with his sister, giving her directions and helping her find the consoles she needs to shut down the Archon in the middle of the final battle.
Noteworthy Negative Characteristics:
* According to his sister, when speaking to Lexi about her decision to go along with her while Harry stays behind to look after Scott, he is "the difficult one". Of the two Ryder twins Sara does seem to be more professional and calm. If refused a hug from Scott when he awakens from his coma he asks her what the deal is and she comments she's "afraid of one of the patented Scott Ryder headlocks", which shows he can be more than a little rambunctious even with his own sister.
* Scott can be particularly hard on people when he feels let down. While the Ryder twins are, well twins, and thus the same age...Scott is a few minutes younger than Sara and therefore refers to her as his "older sister" while she refers to him as his "younger brother", and he certainly fills the role. If Scott finds out from anyone other than Sara about his father's death and the failed plan to find a home he acts a bit stubborn in forgiving the fact that she's super busy, you know, saving the galaxy. But that's not the best example of this flaw. It's when Sara admits she doesn't know what to say and Scott replies with, "my big sister without an opinion? That'd be a new one." Sara's comment following backs this up when she retorts with, "my little brother cutting me a break for a change? That'd be too."
* He's also over-dramatic at times. Yet another example from when Scott awakens from his coma bitter that his sister never visited (his sister who again I stress is off saving literally everyone) he flat out accuses her of forgetting about him. "Let me guess, you found a map leading to treasure, maybe an old relic, and it was 'Scott who'?" While this could be attributed to his joking nature he's very serious and down at this moment, and probably still feels there's some truth behind it at the moment. It takes Sara at this point to be the one to lighten the mood before he comes out of his dour attitude and gets over it.
Powers/Abilities: Scott's a biotic, so he uses his biotic abilities to boost his jumping and dodging. Aside from this he uses a move called "Shock Wave" which sends a wave of biotic energy in a straight line to knock back his enemies. There's "Nova", which he uses by jumping in the air and slamming his fist into the ground, creating a wave of biotic energy within a few feet of himself to also knock back enemies. Then there's "Push" and "Pull", which he uses to...well, push and pull things. He can use his biotics to form a barrier around himself/others, though that takes a lot of energy so he can't hold it for very long. Human biotics are limited and Scott needs a cooldown of 10 mins at least after using a move like Shock Wave or Nova. While Push and Pull come easier to him he can't use it on anything to heavy without hurting himself.
Character Fears: Scott is afraid of being alone. While he and his twin haven't always been together he at least always felt like he had her somewhere, within a conference call's reach or e-mail away. She was there, somewhere. But with their mother dying (that's already complicated) and then their father, Scott is terrified of losing the last person he cares about in his life.
Personal Item: His Omni-tool, if it's allowed. It's a wrist mounted computer, but naturally it wouldn't be able to do much other than record things, store pictures, make memos, etc. It can scan and hack things but unless given permission it won't work.
VOLUNTEER SAMPLES
Network Sample: [This whole "bangr" thing is a little...unsubtle, even for him, but when answering this question he decides to just take a "fuck it" attitude as per usual and go for it. He came this far he can't start shying away now.]
What's my favorite season to have sex? Well, Winter lets me bust out my lamest pick up lines. You know the ones, "ten credits if you can find which spot on my body is the warmest", or "black ice isn't the only thing I'm falling for", OR "I've become frostmitten with you". Do they ever work? Rarely. And by rarely I mean never, but regardless my answer would still have to be Winter.
I guess summer isn't so bad, though. Then again it gets hot and sticky. Not to mention the state of my hair gets ridiculous. Who wants to get laid when you look like shit? My answer is still Winter. Alright, I'm sure. Final answer.
